He did not say where he was going, but called up his father later and said that he had met with an accident at Malshej Ghat near Pune district. But he was not found at the spot.
According to the police, when his father enquired around, he learnt that there had not been any accident there. He then lodged a complaint at Tokewade police station. "My son has no enemies. I don't how he disappeared," said his father, Deepak.
Deepak Mokashi is a real estate businessman, while Indrajeet's mother, Divya, is a home maker. He has a younger brother, Satyam. They stay at Goregaon West.
Deepak said Indrajeet has a third-degree black belt in karate, and has won dozens of gold medals at the national and international level. In 2012, he had won a gold medal in Sri Lanka and stood fourth in a competition in Japan last year. He worked with a call centre in Powai and taught karate, for which he travelled to Pune twice a week.
Deepak told mid-day that on January 21, Indrajeet left home at 6 am and he received a call at 4.15 pm from him, saying he had met with an accident near Malshej Ghat. He asked for an ambulance and said he was hurt in the waist and neck. "We reached the spot in three hours but did not find my son," said Deepak. He had also informed a relative from Pune who reached there before them, but also did not find anything.
Deepak said, since the call, Indrajeet's phone had been switched off.
Deepak said, "We searched a lot for him. When we traced his mobile phone location, we found that the last call was made near Murbad, about 35 km from Malshej Ghat." He has been following up with the police since then, but they say they have not found anything, not even the car he was driving.
