A 24-year-old graphic designer succumbed to multiple injuries at JJ hospital after a resident doctor from JJ Hospital allegedly crashed into his bike near Peddar Road on March 28.

According to the Gamdevi police, Aditya Desai, a Gamdevi resident, was on his Honda bike going towards Babulnath on March 27. Rashid Rehan (27), a third-year resident doctor from General surgery department was coming from the opposite side of Kemp's Corner Bridge road. At around 1.55 am, the car dashed his bike and Aditya fell from the bridge.

The police reached the spot and moved him to JJ hospital at around 2 am. "It was a case of polytrauma which means the patient got multiple injuries like on head, ribs, multiple fractures. He died at around 3 am on Tuesday. The post-mortem was done and the body was handed over to the family at around 2 pm," said a source.

Rampyare Gopinath Rajbhar Senior Inspector of Gamdevi Police Station said, "He was the sole bread earner in the house. We have taken blood samples of the doctor to check whether he was under the influence of alcohol while driving. We have registered an FIR under IPC section 85/22 now and will add section 304 A. Aditya's uncle Somar Desai demanded that Rashid's medical degree be revoked and he should face strict punishment."
