Killer constable Chetan Singh
The Government Railway Police (GRP) has approached the metropolitan magistrate court in Borivli to obtain permission to carry out narcoanalysis, brain mapping and polygraph tests on Chetan Singh, the RPF constable who gunned down three innocent passengers as well as his senior officer on the Jaipur-Mumbai Superfast Express train last month.
The GRP's application to the court stated that as the crime was heinous in nature, they are probing the matter deeply to determine Singh's motives. So far, they have recorded statements of more than two dozen passengers, including eyewitnesses, but their statements and the answers provided by the accused are not matching. The application stated that Singh had been lying and it seemed that he was intentionally misleading the police force.

"We were struggling to uncover the exact motive behind the crime and for that, narcoanalysis, brain mapping and polygraph tests of the accused are required as they can provide us with more information," the application read.

Singh's lawyers Surendra Landage and Amit Mishra argued against the GRP's application and opposed the tests. "The GRP has had Singh's custody for 11 days but they have not done any of these tests. Moreover, an expert should be consulted about the effects of these tests on the health of the accused," said Mishra.
The court, however, reserved its order for Friday as the say of the accused on conducting the tests requested by the GRP was awaited. Singh, 33, will be in GRP custody until August 11. The police force recently told the court that the RPF constable was of sound mental health.
