India General Elections 2024: Election Commission gears up for vote counting in Maharashtra on June 4

The vote counting for the India General Elections 2024 is set to take place on June 4, the counting process will begin at 8 am for which the Election Commission has made preparations for the process as well as for secured vote counting procedure, the officials said on Sunday.

The Chief Electoral Officer's office on Sunday announced comprehensive measures to ensure a secure and transparent process during vote counting and shared the details of the manpower deployment for the election results day.

A total of 14,507 officers and employees will be deployed across all polling centres in the 48 constituencies in Maharashtra, an official statement said.

The counting process will be facilitated by 4,309 voting tables arranged in 289 halls, ensuring efficiency and accuracy. To maintain law and order, stringent police arrangements will be implemented at all polling stations, it said.

The statement further said that the Chief Electoral Officer's office has assured that all necessary preparations are in place. The deployment of officers and employees is aimed at ensuring that the vote counting process proceeds smoothly and without untoward incident.

"Each polling centre will be equipped with adequate staff and resources to handle the counting process effectively," the statement said.

The security measures include the deployment of police personnel to safeguard the integrity of the vote counting process and to prevent any disturbances. There will be tight security measures at polling stations in the state, it said.

Out of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra counting for six seats in Mumbai will also take place on June 4 and for the process Mumbai Police has last week issued preventive orders for city ahead of the vote counting for Lok Sabha elections 2024.

The police said that the India General Elections 2024 were held in Mumbai on May 20 and the counting of votes is scheduled to be held on June 4 at following locations:-

- North Mumbai: Hall No. 4 (East Side) Nesco Complex, Bombay Exhibition Center, Goregaon East, Mumbai - 400063

- North West Mumbai: Hall No. 4 (West Side) Nesco Complex, Bombay Exhibition Center, Goregaon East, Mumbai - 400063

- North East Mumbai: Udayanchal Primary School Care of Godrej and Boyce Manufacturing Company Ltd, Firozshah Nagar, Vikhroli East, Mumbai - 400049

- North Central Mumbai: Hall No.5 Nesco Complex, Bombay Exhibition Center, Goregaon East, Mumbai - 400063

- South Central Mumbai: Sewri Warehouse, Gadi Adda, B.P.T. Sewri, Mumbai - 400015

- South Mumbai: Sewri Warehouse, Gadi Adda, B.P.T. Sewri, Mumbai - 400015

The police said, "A large number of persons are likely to visit the counting centers during the process of counting on June 4."

The preventive order was issued by Akbar Pathan, DCP (Operations), Mumbai Police.

It said, "For the purpose of preventing the obstruction, annoyance and injury or risk of obstructing, annoyance and injury to persons lawfully employed and for the purpose of preventing the disturbance of the public tranquility the preventive order was being issued."

The preventive order issued by the Mumbai Police further said that, no person other than an official engaged in connection with the election or any public servant engaged in duty at or in the vicinity of counting centres, shall between 06.00 a.m. on June 2, 2024 till 12.00 midnight on June 5, 2024 loiter or join or form any assembly or group of persons of any public through fare, highway road, street lane, bye-lane or any other public place within a distance of 300 meter radius from any counting centers.
