Heatwave condition very likely to prevail in Mumbai for next two days; BMC issues advisory

Mumbaikars to face heatwave conditions for the next two days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Mumbai, has issued a yellow alert with a warning of a heatwave in Mumbai, Thane, and Raigad districts.

Today, Mumbai recorded a temperature of 39 degrees Celsius and it is likely may remain the same for the next 48 hours.

The IMD forecast reads, "Mainly clear sky, heatwave condition very likely to prevail at the isolated places in Mumbai."

As per the IMD website, on Monday, the IMD Colaba weather station recorded day temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius, 6.1 degrees above the normal mark and Santacruz recorded 38.6 degrees Celsius by 8.30 am. Humidity levels were 68 per cent in Colaba and 56 per cent at Santacruz.

The minimum or the night temperature is also expected to be 23 degrees for the next two days.

On Sunday, Mumbai recorded a temperature of 38.6 degrees Celsius.
