Fewer tests raise TPR to 4.73 per cent ; Mumbai sees 10 Covid-19 deaths

Amid the downward trend of daily cases, Mumbai saw a marginal rise in test positivity rate as the number of tests saw a dip. As per numbers shared by the BMC, 1,312 cases were reported with 10 deaths. The TPR stood at 4.73 per cent.

In the third wave, the highest TPR recorded in Mumbai has been 29.9 per cent on January 06. At the peak of the second wave, the highest number of single-day infections had stood at 11,163.

Eight of the COVID casualties had comorbidities. While one of them was in the age group of 40-60, the rest were above 60.

About 83 per cent of the patients turning positive on Friday were asymptomatic as 193 people were hospitalised of which 41 are in the oxygen bed.

The recovery rate remained constant at 96 per cent as 4,990 patients were discharged. The doubling rate improved to 259 days.

Dharavi G-North ward recorded zero cases after 39 days. It had recorded zero cases last on December 29.

The state saw a marginal dip in the number of cases but a significant rise in the number of deaths. As per the report, 24,948 new cases and 103 deaths were reported across the state.

The state's case-fatality rate remained constant at 1.86 per cent. A total of 45,648 people were discharged during the day. The state's active caseload stood at 2,66,586 on Friday.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region registered 3,132 infections. Thane Municipal Corporation and Navi Mumbai reported 281 and 684 cases respectively, the highest in MMR after Mumbai.

While Raigad saw 266 cases, Vasai-Virar had 84 cases and Thane city had 100 cases. Other than Mumbai, the MMR saw 20 deaths. Kalyan-Dombivili, Vasai-Virar and Raigad saw five deaths each

On Friday, 110 new Omicron infections were reported in the state. So far, 3,040 cases of Omicron have been registered of which 1,603 patients have been discharged.
