Another non-bailable warrant has been issued against former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. The Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate issued the warrant on Saturday, acting on a plea filed by the Mumbai Police's Crime Branch in an extortion case. This is the second non-bailable warrant issued against Singh in a week. The warrant has been issued against two more accused in the case.
The Crime Branch is investigating the extortion case against Singh and others including suspended officer Sachin Waze in Goregaon police station. A hotelier had filed a complaint alleging that Rs 11.92 lakh have been extorted by a few people. The Goregaon police had filed an FIR against Singh, Waze, Sumeet Singh, Alpesh Patel, Vinay Singh and Riyaz Bhati. Sumeet has already been arrested by the police.
