A 35-year-old mechanical engineer allegedly uploaded obscene photographs of his sister-in-law who had parted ways with his brother two years ago. The man was nabbed by a special police team from Goregaon station in Bhandup.
The arrested accused has been identified as Vijay Kantilal Panchal. He lives with his family members and brother Nitesh Panchal, to whom the woman was married earlier.
The 31-year-old woman had tied the knot with Nitesh in 2003 in Pune. The marriage was a rocky one, and Nitesh threw her out of his house in 2009, after which she moved back to her parents' home in Kishan Nagar in Thane. In 2011, relatives tried to bring about a reconciliation between the two. Nitesh came to Thane and took her back to his house in Pune. But eight months later, the woman returned to her parents' home again.

The woman then started working for real estate agent Sunil Gupta. On Diwali last year, he trapped her by asking her to collect her âgift' in the evening, only to spike her drink, shoot obscene photographs of her and rape her. When the woman visited Pune the next time, her husband confronted her with the pictures.
Learning that Gupta had shot the pictures, the woman lodged a complaint against him with the Thane police and got himarrested. Gupta had given the pictures to her husband.
After divorcing Nitesh last year, the woman remarried and moved to Goregaon. This August, she was told by an acquaintance that the photographs were on a social networking site. The profile page was in her name.
She approached the Cyber Crime cell, who found the profile to be a fake one. The police learnt that her former husband's brother had uploaded the pictures online out of spite. They launched a search for him.
"We had been searching for him for the past 10 days after the FIR was registered, but in vain. We finally reached the Pune residence where his other family members stay. Here, we learnt that had left for Mumbai. Later, we came to know that he had contacted his friend, who stays in Bhandup. We laid a trap and arrested him," said Inspector Manisha Nalawade.
During interrogations, Vijay revealed that he wanted to mar her reputation as revenge, as he was angry with her for
leaving her brother and remarrying. u00a0
