An octogenarian woman and her 54-year-old nephew were found dead in their Mulund flat on Monday afternoon, the police said.
On March 14, the duo's house help contacted the landlord, Sandeep Chandratrey, after she noticed a foul smell emanating from the house. Chandratrey was told that his tenants in Uma Society were not opening the door since the past two days. He rushed to the building and immediately informed the Navghar Police.
Upon searching the house, the police recovered hand-written suicide notes by both the deceased in a notebook. The notes claimed that the duo was reeling under health and financial problems.
The deceased were identified as Pramodini Raghunath Kambli (88) and Rajesh Vitthal Kambli (54). "Old age has become more torturous now. I am ending my life as per my own free will. Nobody should be held responsible for my death," read Pramodini's note accessed by Mid-day.

Her nephew Rajesh, in his note, wrote, "I have incurred losses in the share market, forcing me to end my life. Nobody should be held responsible for my death."
An official from the Navghar Police station said, "As soon as we reached the spot, we found an old lady hanging by the ceiling fan in the living room and a man hanging by the kitchen fan."
The bodies were taken to the Rajawadi Hospital, where the post-mortem was conducted. The preliminary autopsy report doesn't indicate any foul play and cites death by hanging as cause of death.
An Accidental Death Report has been filed by the Navghar police in connection with the matter.
The deceased, Pramodini and Rajesh were staying in the Mulund East house for the past 20 years.
According to the primary investigation, Pramodini was a retired government officer working with Mantralaya. She was a pension beneficiary, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
Rajesh made his living on dividends and profits earned from the share market.
"The bodies have been handed over to their kins," Assistant Police Inspector Anil Rajguru said.
