MP Manoj Kotak has taken the lead to speed up works on the crucial east-west connectors in the eastern suburbs and met with BMC and railway officials on Monday and Tuesday. On Tuesday, he met with Central Railway Divisional Manager Rajnish Goyal. "We discussed the pending work on Vidyavihar and Vikhroli bridges and the widening work of Nahur road overbridge," said Kotak. The MP had on November 30 visited the spot of the Vikhroli bridge after mid-day on November 21 highlighted the delay in the construction of the bridges.
The MP held back-to-back meetings with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and Central Railway. "Some issues are related to the railway and BMC, so we need to sort them out with coordination between the authorities. I met civic chief I S Chahal on Monday regarding various issues including bridge works and another infrastructure project. We have discussed speeding up the project," Kotak added.

An official from the BMC said, "Vidyavihar and Vikhroli ROB work is long pending. The Vikhroli one will help to reduce congestion on Lal Bahadur Shastri Road and Eastern Express Highway. The Vidyavihar ROB will be an alternative for Santacruz Chembur Link Road. We are working to complete both bridges as soon as possible. The work on Vikhroli ROB will be completed by December 2023."

Kotak, MP from Mumbai North East constituency, said, "We also discussed the upgradation of Mulund, Bhandup, Ghatkopar, Govandi and Mankhurd railway stations. I generally always meet with officials to boost infrastructure projects in my constituency. We are working on starting escalators and lifts at the stations. We have already launched the project and held the groundbreaking ceremony at Vikhroli station last week."
Mario Rodrigues, vice-chairman of the Vikhroli unit of Bombay Catholic Sabha, said, "Escalators and lifts will be helpful for senior citizens and those with disabilities as it is difficult for them to climb the bridge. We have been demanding these for a long time."
