In two separate incidents held in Dombivli recently, two people were killed when they tried to intervene a fight between a husband and wife. The Manpada police in Dombivli have registered two separate murder cases in the matter, have even arrested one accused in the murder case, and are further investigating the matter.
According to the police, in the first incident, Sandeep Mengane and his wife, Sangeeta Mengane, who live in the Sonarpada area of Dombivli East, used to have arguments over petty issues. "There was an argument between the two on Sunday afternoon. During the argument between the couple, Sandeep's brother Sagar, who was in the house tried to mediate and stop the dispute. But the enraged Sangita stabbed Sagar with a knife. Sagar was injured and later died during treatment. Meanwhile, Sangita also cut the veins on her hand. A case has been registered against Sangita at the Manpada police station regarding the matter. Sangita is undergoing treatment in the hospital," said a police officer.
The police said the second incident happened at a construction site in the Usarghar area in Dombivli East. Tahiyad Ali and Sufiya Ali, who are husband and wife, work at a construction site. The two of them were constantly arguing. Around eight o'clock on Sunday night, Tahiyad and Sufiya again had an argument. At the same time, Johar Ali, a neighbour came to sort out the matter. "Enraged, Tahiyad beat Johar with a wooden stick. The wooden stick hit Johar on the head and seriously injured him. While undergoing treatment at the hospital, he died. A case has been registered against Tahiyad in Manpada police station, and he has been arrested," said a police officer.
Sunil Kurade, assistant commissioner of police, Manpada division, said, "Surprisingly, in both cases, the deceased went to sort out the fight between the couples. But they were hit back by the accused and killed. We have registered a case and have arrested one accused in the second case. An investigation is further going on in the matter," said Kurade.
