Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has cast doubt on the INDIA alliance's credibility and leadership, stating that it pales in comparison to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. Addressing a gathering of state BJP officials, Fadnavis commented on the investigation against a news portal, which revealed Chinese funding, insinuating that certain forces aim to obstruct the Modi government's development initiatives, stated a PTI report.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Police conducted searches at 30 locations linked to the online news portal NewsClick and its journalists. The searches were carried out under the anti-terrorism law UAPA, alleging that the portal received funds for promoting pro-China content.
"The opposition grouping led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi lacks credibility. None of the leaders from the INDIA bloc has a national appeal. They don't have an agenda for development and also lack the vision for the development of the country," Fadnavis said.
According to the report, Fadnavis questioned the credibility of the opposition alliance led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, stating that none of the leaders within the INDIA bloc possesses national appeal. According to him, they lack a development agenda and vision for the country's growth. He suggested that their primary agenda is opposition to PM Modi, recognizing that their future prospects appear grim if Modi secures a third term.
The senior BJP leader argued that leaders like Mamata Banerjee (TMC), Akhilesh Yadav (SP), and Tejashwi Yadav (RJD) are ill-suited to lead the opposition alliance. He anticipated that their internal differences would intensify after the elections, emphasizing that the INDIA alliance falls short in comparison to Modi.
Fadnavis also highlighted the welfare schemes implemented by the Modi government over the past nine years, claiming that they have lifted people out of poverty. He emphasized India's status as the fastest-growing economy, asserting that other developed nations are now seeking collaboration with India.
He clarified that the BJP's battle is not against the INDIA alliance itself but against the forces backing them, which he believes seek to sow chaos in the country.
Furthermore, Fadnavis referred to the BJP as the "elder brother" in the tripartite government with the Shiv Sena and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction). While emphasizing the need for accommodation and sacrifices within the coalition, he reaffirmed the party's commitment to its principles and objectives, stated the report.
