Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday conducted a joint meeting with general managers of Central and Western Railway, along with BMC commissioner and senior state government bureaucrats to discuss about the issue of public access to local trains and said a decision would be taken soon.
Sources said that discussions were centred on the issue of crowd management, how the issue of crowding could be dealt with and the various options that could be tried out to handle it as the threat of Covid19 pandemic is still not completely over. However, no date has been announced so far.
Among the senior bureaucrats who attended the meeting were additional chief secretary Ashish Kumar Singh, chief secretary Vikas Kharge, secretary Abasaheb Jarad, BMC commissioner IS Chahal, disaster management chief Abhay Yawalkar, Mumbai police commissioner Parambir Singh and General Managers of both the railways in Mumbai.
