A day after recording more than 400 cases of novel Coronavirus, Mumbai's daily tally dropped to 394 on Thursday, taking the city's total to 3,07,569. The state's COVID-19 figure, however, saw an upward trend with 2,889 new cases. With 50 new fatalities, the death toll from the respiratory illness has climbed to 50,944 in the state.

Among other cities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), the Thane Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan-Dombivli Corporation continued to record fewer than 100 cases each, with 74, 97 and 96, respectively. Of the 50 COVID-19-related fatalities across the state, the city recorded the highest with seven deaths, followed by Nashik with 6. Thane registered three deaths.
In the MMR, a total of 13 deaths were recorded, including the figures from Thane and Mumbai. The mortality rate of the state was recorded at 2.52 per cent. According to Mumbai civic officials, all of the seven deceased patients were suffering from other ailments, and five were senior citizens. The number of deaths due to other causes in the state stands at 1,234. These deaths involve people who tested positive for novel Coronavirus and later tested negative, but died afterwards due to other complications.

The state's recovery rate now stands at 95.28 per cent, with 3,181 patients being discharged on Thursday. Mumbai's recovery rate was 94 per cent, while the doubling rate, which now is at 531 days, is improving. The city's daily COVID-19 growth rate in the past one week is just 0.13 per cent as the total count now stands at over 3.07 lakh cases.
In the city, a total of 5,520 patients are currently undergoing treatment for COVID-19. Meanwhile, so far 1.44 crore laboratory samples have been collected in the state, and out of these 20.18 lakh have been found COVID-19-positive, with 13.99 per cent positivity ratio.
