Central Railway has announced a Special Traffic and Power Block for the purpose of launching four girders for a 5-meter-wide Foot-over-Bridge (FOB) at Thane station. This ambitious project, located at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) end of Thane station, specifically involves Platforms no 1 & 2 and the Down local line, with this block marking the launch of the sixth span.
According to the media statement by CR, the operation will be carried out on the intervening October 14 and 15 encompassing a total duration of five hours. The work will commence at 12.30 am and conclude at 5.30 am on Sunday.
The traffic block section affected by this development extends from Mulund to Kalva along the Down Local Line.
In light of this necessary infrastructure work, the suburban train schedule will witness alterations to accommodate the block. Notably, Down slow suburban services, specifically those departing from CSMT at 11.30 pm and later at 04.19 am, will be rerouted onto the Down Through Line. These services will operate between Mulund and Diva stations, making scheduled halts at Thane, Kalva, and Mumbra stations.

This adjustment also means changes in the train schedule with the last local train before the block, TL 65, departing from CSMT at 11.16 pm and arriving at Titwala at 01.00 am. The first local train post-block, CTL 3, will depart from Vidyavihar at 05.11 am and reach Titwala at 06.23 am, ensuring a seamless transition for commuters.
"Diversion of DN Slow Suburban Services: Down suburban services from S 41 departing CSMT at 23.30 hrs to N 3 departing CSMT at 04.19 hrs will be diverted oÂn Down Through Line between Mulund and Diva stations and will halt at Thane, Kalva & Mumbra stations.
⢠Last local before the block: TL 65 departing CSMT at 23.16 hrs and arriving Titwala at 01.00 hrs
⢠First local after the block: CTL 3 departing Vidyavihar at 05.11 hrs and arriving Titwala at 06.23 hrs," the Railway press statement read.
The railway administration has urged commuters to bear with them during this period of travel disruption, emphasizing the importance of these infrastructure improvements for the long-term benefit of all who utilize the railway services. They wrote, "Passengers are requested to bear with the Railway Administration for the inconvenience caused due to this infrastructure block."
