Maharashtra reported 23 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, as per the state health bulletin.

According to the state govt data, 18 patients discharged on August 26 taking the overall recovered patients tally to 80,21,875 until today.

Recovery rate in the state is 98.18 per cent.

"No Covid-19 death reported in the state today. Case fatality rate in the state is 1.81 per cent," informs the state official.

"Out of 8,74,75,557 laboratory samples 81,70,601 have been tested positive (9.34 per cent) for Covid-19 until today," added the release.

As per the data, 1,992 test were conducted on August 26, out of which 1,543 done in government laboratories, 447 were done in private laboratories and two by self-test.

At present dominant variant of Covid is Omicron XBB.1.16. Total 1733 cases were found to be infected with this variant. There were 19 deaths reported among the cases of this variant.

Since January 1, 2023, 127 Covid-19 deaths have been recorded. 72.44 per cent of these deaths have occurred in individuals above 60 years of age, 84 per cent of the deceased had comorbidities, 16 per cent did not have any comorbidity.

Maharashtra presently has 164 active cases.

Meanwhile, India saw a single day rise of 60 new coronavirus infections while the active cases stood at 1,503, according to Union health ministry data updated on Saturday.

The death toll was recorded at 5,31,928, the data updated at 8 am stated. India's Covid case tally is 4.49 crore.

The number of people who have recuperated from the infection has increased to 4.45 crore, and the national recovery rate stands at 98.81 per cent, according to the health ministry's website.

The case fatality rate of the country stands at 1.18 per cent.

The ministry website data stated that 220.67 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far.
