Maharashtra reported 20 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, as per the state government's data. The health bulletin also stated that 33 patients were successfully discharged, taking the overall recovered patients count to 80,22,855 until September 29.

Maharashtra's recovery rate stands at 98.18 per cent. No new Covid-19 deaths were reported in the state.

The case fatality rate remains at 1.81 per cent.

Out of a total of 8,75,20,936 laboratory samples conducted, 9.34 per cent (81,71,587) have tested positive for Covid-19 till September 29. Around 798 tests were conducted today, with 516 in government laboratories, 282 in private laboratories.

The health bulletin also stated that the dominant variant of Covid-19 at present is Omicron XBB.1.16, with a total of 1,733 confirmed cases. There have been 19 reported deaths associated with this variant.

From January 2023 till now, 131 Covid-19-related deaths have been recorded. Around 70.99 per cent of the deaths occurred in individuals aged 60 and above. Moreover, 83 per cent of the deceased had comorbidities, while 17 per cent did not have any underlying health conditions.

Meanwhile, India recorded a single-day rise of 40 new COVID-19 cases while the active caseload stands at 476, according to Union Health Ministry data.

The death toll has been recorded at 5,32,031 (5.32 lakh), the data updated on Friday showed.

India's Covid case tally currently stands at 4,49,98,741 (4.49 crore).

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease is at 4,44,66,244 (4.44 crore) and the national recovery rate stands at 98.81 per cent, according to the health ministry website.

The case fatality rate is currently at 1.18 per cent.

According to the website, 220.67 crore Covid vaccine doses have been administered so far.
