After seeing a decline in COVID-19 cases, the city saw a marginal rise and recorded 4,966 cases on Wednesday. However, it also recorded a dip in the Test Positivity Rate, which was 12.68 per cent on Wednesday, with the city conducting 10,000 more tests compared to Tuesday.
The city reported the highest number of cases - 11,163 on April 4 and then the declining trend started.
Meanwhile, 5,300 patients recovered in the city on Wednesday and the number of active patients' lowered to 65,589. But the number of deaths is still on the higher side at 78. As per the BMC report, 40 of these patients had co-morbidities, 51 patients were men and 27 women, six deaths were of people below 40 years of age, 34 deaths were of people aged between 40 and 60 years of age and 38 deaths were of people above 60 years of age.
The recovery rate is stabilised at 87 per cent and the doubling rate of the city is now 74 days.

Maharashtra on Wednesday witnessed close to 1,000 COVID-19 fatalities for the first time. As per the state's report, there were 985 COVID deaths on Wednesday, taking the total death toll to 67,214. Meanwhile, the state also reported 63,309 new infections on Wednesday which was marginally better than Tuesday.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) reported 12,782 cases on Tuesday, including the ones in Mumbai. It is slightly higher than Tuesday. Cities like Thane recorded 991 cases, Navi Mumbai 717 and Kalyan-Dombivli 1,127.
The MMR, excluding Mumbai, witnessed 142 deaths out of which 92 were reported in Thane, 12 in Raigad, 11 in Panvel and eight in Navi Mumbai. A total of 61,181 patients were discharged across Maharashtra, and the number of active cases is 6.7 lakh.
