Covid-19: Mumbai’s test positivity rate drops to 3.24 per cent

After witnessing a steady rise in daily Covid-19 numbers, Mumbai on Saturday witnessed a significant drop in both daily positive figures, as well as the test positivity rate (TPR). As per the BMC's report, the city saw 866 new Covid-19 cases and 29 deaths. The number of recovered patients was at 1,045.

The city recorded a TPR of 3.24 per cent. The doubling rate has continued to significantly improve and is now at 511 days.

Of the 29 deaths in Mumbai, 20 patients had comorbidities; 14 deaths were in the age group of 60 above, while 12 deaths were reported in the 40-60 age group. The city's recovery rate has also improved and was 95 per cent on Saturday.

Maharashtra saw a marginal dip in new cases, too. As per the state report, 13,659 new cases were reported across the state. The state, however, saw a marginal rise in Covid-19 fatalities, as there were 300 deaths reported.

Meanwhile, 74,665 people received vaccines on Saturday. There will be no vaccination at public centres today. Starting Monday, vaccination will be held on a walk-in basis for the 45-plus age group.
