Mumbai's daily Covid-19 cases saw a huge jump as they crossed the 600 mark on Wednesday. The test positivity rate (TPR) and Covid-19 fatalities also increased on Wednesday. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 629 new cases were reported. The city's TPR was 1.58% and seven deaths were reported.
All the deceased had comorbidities. While two of them were in the age of 40 years to 60 years, five were in the age group over 60 years.
The doubling rate saw a significant dip and was at 1,131 days on Wednesday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 540 people recovered and were discharged on Wednesday.
The state's Covid-19 cases also saw a significant rise along with fatalities. As per the state health department report, 2,876 cases were reported. There were 90 deaths reported across the state.

The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 2,763 recovered and got discharged on Wednesday. Currently the state has 33,181 active cases.
Like the state, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a significant rise in new cases.
As per the state report, 1,110 cases were reported in the MMR including cases from Mumbai.
Apart from Mumbai, the Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR with 83 new cases. It was followed by Raigad with 74 cases. While Navi Mumbai saw 58 cases, Thane had 49 cases and Mira-Bhayandar witnessed 34 cases. Vasai-Virar had 48 cases and Panvel reported 70 cases.
MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered four deaths on Wednesday. Raigad, Panvel, Ulhasnagar and Bhiwandi reported one death each.
