While the city's COVID test positivity rate (TPR) is on the rise once again since Tuesday. Friday saw a dip in TPR at 1.1 per cent compared to Thursday, when it was 1.25 per cent.
Mumbai also saw a slight dip in daily cases. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 421 new cases were reported on Thursday. The city saw five deaths. Four of the deceased had comorbidities and all of them were above 60 years of age. A total of 38,242 tests were conducted in the city on Friday. The doubling rate significantly improved to 1,375 days. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 490 people were discharged after full recovery on Friday. The state saw a significant rise in new cases. As per the state health department report, 1,632 fresh cases were reported across the state along with 40 deaths. The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 1,744 people were discharged after full recovery on Friday. Currently the state has 24,138 active cases.
As per the state report, 709 cases were reported in the MMR, including the ones from Mumbai.
Apart from Mumbai, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of 49 daily cases in the MMR. This was followed by Thane with 43 cases and Navi Mumbai with 41 cases.
The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered five deaths. While three were in KDMC, one death each was reported in Thane and Mira-Bhayander.
