Covid-19: Mumbai sees a rise of over 1,000 daily infections

After a dip in daily novel coronavirus cases, Mumbai saw over 1,000 more cases on Wednesday as compared to Tuesday. As per the report released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 3,879 new cases were reported on Wednesday with 77 deaths due to the viral infection. The state also saw a rise in infections and deaths, with 57,640 cases and 920 deaths.

A total of 3,686 patients recovered in Mumbai and were discharged on Wednesday. The recovery rate in Mumbai is 90% and there is a significant improvement in the doubling rate which is 123 days. Of the 77 deaths, 56 had comorbidities, 40 deaths were above 60 years of age and 31 deaths were in the age group 40-60.

The state saw a slight increase in Covid-19 cases and deaths. On Wednesday, as per the state report, 57,640 new Covid-19 cases were reported along with 920 deaths.

In the state, 57,006 patients recovered and were discharged on Wednesday. The recovery rate of the state is 85.32%. Currently, the state has 6.4 lakh patients taking treatment. The case fatality rate of the state stands at 1.49%.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) reported a significant rise in new cases. The MMR region reported 10,292 cases on Wednesday, including the ones in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Raigad and Vasai-Virar with 1,179 and 1,082 cases respectively reported the maximum new cases in MMR region. Thane recorded 727 cases, Navi Mumbai 379 and Kalyan-Dombivli 817. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 113 deaths, out of which 9 were reported in Thane, 13 in Raigad, 9 in Navi Mumbai, 19 in Panvel.
