The city on Friday reported 202 COVID-19 cases and one death, taking the tally to 10,55,193 and the toll to 16,686, a civic official said. The daily figure remained below the 300-mark for the fifth day in a row, though the lone fatality came after a three-day gap, the official said.
The discharge of 365 people during the day took the recovery count to 10,33,862 and recovery rate to 98 per cent. Active case count stood at 1,780, he said. The data showed that 37,700 samples were tested during the day and the positivity rate was 0.53 per cent. The doubling rate was 2,627 days, while the growth rate of cases between February 11 and 17 stood at 0.03 per cent.
The patient who died on Friday was a senior citizen and had comorbidity.
As per the data, 87 per cent or 176 out of the 202 new cases were asymptomatic, while only eight patients needed oxygen support in the past 24 hours. It added that 26 patients were admitted to hospitals.
Civic officials said there are no containment zones or sealed buildings in the city for over a week now.
Maharashtra recorded 2,068 new cases and 15 new deaths on Friday, while 4,709 more patients were discharged following recovery, the state health department said. The state's total case tally has reached 78,55,359 and the death toll 1,43,547.
The case fatality rate in the state stands at 1.82 per cent. As many as 4,709 people were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the number of recovered cases to 76,86,670. The state now has 21,159 active cases.
Of the eight administrative regions which consist multiple districts, Pune recorded 654 cases, followed by Mumbai (403), Nashik (397), Nagpur (233), Akola (143), Kolhapur (94), Latur (78) and Aurangabad (66).
Of the 15 fatalities, Mumbai and Pune circles recorded four each, followed by Nashik and Kolhapur (three each) and one in the Akola circle. Nagpur, Latur and Aurangabad circles did not record any fresh fatality.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region reported a total of 403 new cases on Friday with Thane city, Raigad and Navi Mumbai reporting the most cases after Mumbai, at 38, 36 and 32, respectively. MMR also saw 4 deaths, including 2 from Raigad and 1 each from Mumbai and Thane city.
