Covid-19: Mumbai’s TPR recorded at 1.38 per cent

While number of new cases rise, fatalities drop

On Saturday, the number of new Covid-19 cases continued to remain above 500. While there was a drop in fatalities, the city saw a marginal rise in test positivity rate (TPR) at 1.38%.

As per BMC, 523 new cases and three deaths were reported on Saturday. The doubling rate significantly dipped to 1,091 days on Saturday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 498 people recovered and were discharged on Saturday.

The state's Covid-19 cases saw a marginal dip, along with Covid-19 fatalities. As per the state health department report, 2,486 cases were reported. The fatalities saw a dip as 44 deaths were reported across the state. The state's case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 2,446 recovered and got discharged on Saturday. Currently, the state has 33,006 active cases.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also saw a marginal drop in new cases. As per the state report, 978 cases were reported in the MMR region, including cases from Mumbai. On Saturday, a total of 29,111 first doses and 51,854 second doses were administered in the city.

BMC appeals for more tests

The BMC has urged citizens to get tested if they have any symptoms. Around 37,000 daily tests have been carried out in October. "There are 260 centres, where tests are free of cost. Citizens can get the details of nearby centres by contacting ward war rooms. Early testing, isolation and treatment are important," said a senior official from the BMC.
