Mumbai on Thursday recorded 961 new Covid-19 cases and confirmed 27 more fatalities, slightly down from a day before, according to the updated report of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Maharashtra saw a marginal rise in daily figures, with 15,229 fresh infections and 307 deaths.

According to the BMC's data, 18 of the 27 deceased had comorbidities, six were in the 40-60 years age group and 20 were senior citizens. The test positivity rate (TPR) in the city dropped marginally on Thursday as compared to Wednesday, and was 3.89 per cent. The doubling rate has continued to significantly improve and touched 500 days.
The recovery rate of Covid-19 infection has improved further and was 95 per cent on Thursday, when 897 patients were discharged after recovery.

The fatality rate in the state has been rising steadily and was 1.68 per cent on Thursday. Medical facilities across the state discharged 25,617 more Covid-19 patients, and are currently treating 2.04 lakh Coronavirus infected people.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also reported a marginal rise in new cases at 3,022, including the ones reported in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Palghar and Raigad reported the maximum number of new cases in the MMR, at 326 and 648, respectively.
Thane reported 211 new cases, Kalyan-Dombivli 203 and Navi Mumbai 91. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered a significant rise in deaths with 34. Palghar reported 22 deaths, highest after Mumbai. Raigad and Panvel registered six deaths each.
