COVID-19: Mumbai reports daily deaths in single digit yet again

The number of cases remains on the higher side in the city, but the other cities in the MMR registered less than 100 cases. Mumbai recorded 607 new cases and 9 deaths on Thursday. The fresh cases in the state rose to 3,579 cases. The number of deaths had increased over last week and the state reported 70 deaths on the second consecutive day.

More than 15,000 tests were conducted in the city, and the test positivity rate was below 5 per cent. Mumbai has been recording deaths in single digits for the past few days. Out of nine, eight patients had comorbidities. Two deaths were below 40 years, 1 death was between 40 years and 60 years and 6 deaths were above 60 years of age. At least 789 patients recovered in the city and the number of active cases now stands at 7,332.

At least 1,110 cases were reported in the MMR including Mumbai. All the other cities in the MMR reported cases below 100. Cases in the interior parts of the state increased again with Pune circle and Nagpur circle registering 776 and 640 cases respectively. Out of 70, 17 deaths were reported in MMR, 15 in Pune and 14 in Nagpur.

The cumulative number of cases in the state is 19.81 lakh and the recovery rate of the state has stabilised at 94.8 per cent. At least 3, 309 patients recovered and there are 52,000 active patients in the state.
