After witnessing a slight rise in Covid-19 cases on May 12, for the second consecutive day on Friday, Mumbai reported a dip in numbers and recorded 1,657 fresh infections and 62 Coronavirus-related deaths on Friday. Two days back the city saw an increase in numbers and had recorded 2,116 fresh cases.
Out of the 62 deaths reported in the city, 31 patients had comorbidities, 34 were above the age of 60 years and 22 were in the age group of 40 to 60 years. About 2,572 patients were discharged on Friday and the city's recovery rate is constant at 92 per cent. The doubling rate has improved and it now stands at 199 days.

Maharashtra saw a significant drop in new cases and deaths on Friday and reported 39,923 fresh infections and 695 fatalities. A total of 53,249 patients were discharged after full recovery. The recovery rate of the state is currently 88.68 per cent and there are 5.1 lakh active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also reported a marginal drop in new cases. The area saw 5,138 fresh cases on Friday, including the ones reported in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Raigad saw 631 cases and Kalyan-Dombivili reported 602 fresh infections. Apart from this, Thane recorded 334 new cases while Vasai-Virar saw 385 and Palghar 396. The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 94 deaths, out of which Kalyan-Dombivili reported 19, Navi Mumbai 11, Thane nine, Raigad 16 and Panvel three.
