On a day that another meeting about imposing a lockdown was inconclusive, Mumbai recorded 9,989 COVID-19 cases and Maharashtra recorded the highest spike since the pandemic began at 63,294 new cases. There were 58 deaths in Mumbai according to the civic body though the state health department reported 79 deaths. The state reported 349 deaths on Sunday.
Mumbai's recovery rate is 79% while the doubling rate is 35 days. The number of active patients is 92,464. The number of patients who recovered and were discharged on Sunday is 8,554.
At least 58 people died in the city on Sunday, according to the civic body. However, the state health department put the figure at 79 deaths.
The BMC said that of the 58 deceased patients, 43 had comorbidities. At least 14 patients were aged between 40 years to 60 years, and 43 were senior citizens.
MMR including Mumbai reported 19,953 new cases and 98 fatalities.

Maharashtra crossed the mark of 1 crore vaccinations on Sunday. However, the state reported 63,294 new cases, the highest till now. While there were 34,008 recoveries there were 349 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the state health department. With this the tally has risen to 34,07,245, and the total death toll is 57,987. The recovery rate in the state is 81.65 per cent.
A record 2,63,137 tests were conducted across the state during the day, which took the overall test count to 2,21,14,372. There are 5,65,587 active cases in the state.
