COVID-19 cases rise with Maharashtra seeing over 3,000 and Mumbai 501

After two days, the state again recorded over 3,000 cases on Wednesday, while the city reported 501 cases of COVID-19. The state recorded 3,015 new cases, taking the total tally of Maharashtra to 19.97 lakh cases

After two days, the state again recorded over 3,000 cases on Wednesday, while the city reported 501 cases of COVID-19. The state recorded 3,015 new cases, taking the total tally of Maharashtra to 19.97 lakh cases.

The number of COVID-related deaths recorded in the state was 59 taking the total to 50,582 deaths in all. The Thane Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan Dombivli Corporation recorded 126, 83 and 75 cases respectively in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The state's recovery rate now stands at 95.07 per cent with 4,589 patients discharged on Wednesday. Mumbai's recovery rate stands at 94 per cent while the doubling rate is improving and is currently at 411 days. The city's daily growth rate is now at 0.21 per cent and the total count stands at 3.04 lakh cases. The city has 6,654 ongoing cases.

The mortality rate of the state was 2.55 per cent till date. The number of deaths due to other causes in the state was 1,213. These deaths are the cases where patients were positive and tested negative but later died due to other complications. The state saw 1.39 crore laboratory samples collected out of which 19.94 lakh tested positive with 14.31 per cent positivity ratio in the state.

There were 59 COVID related deaths in the state led by Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation as it recorded 26 deaths followed by Mumbai with 9 cases. At least 31 deaths were recorded in Thane region apart from Mumbai taking the total tally of deaths recorded in MMR to 40. According to civic officials, out of the 9 deaths, 7 patients were suffering from other ailments and 6 cases were senior citizens.
