The number of new Covid-19 cases in the city increased by over 300 on Wednesday, but the test positivity rate (TPR) improved further and remained under 5 per cent.
According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) report released in the evening, the city recorded 1,362 new cases and 34 deaths. Out of the 34 deceased Covid-19 patients, 25 had comorbidities, 18 were senior citizens and 12 were aged between 40-59 years.
The doubling rate of Covid-19 infections has continued to improve significantly and was 348 days on Wednesday, the TPR was 4.60 per cent and the recovery rate 94 per cent. A total of 1,021 people were discharged across the city after recovering from the respiratory disease.

Maharashtra also saw a rise in new cases, but a marginal one. The state health department's report stated that 24,752 more people were confirmed to be Covid-19-positive. However, there was a significant drop in fatalities at 453. The case fatality rate in the state was 1.62 per cent on Wednesday, when 230,65 people recovered and went home. Currently, the state has 3.14 lakh active cases.
The daily tally rose in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) as well. The MMR reported 3,871 cases, including the ones reported in Mumbai. Apart from Mumbai, Palghar and Raigad reported the maximum number of cases in the MMR, with 430 and 619, respectively.
Thane reported 243 new cases, Kalyan-Dombivli 221 and Navi Mumbai 124. The MMR registered 16 deaths, excluding Mumbai's, and out of that Raigad reported seven and Panvel 4. Thane reported 2 fatalities, while Palghar and Vasai-Virar reported one each.
