Amid rising Covid-19 cases in Mumbai, Mayor Kishori Pednekar said that citizens purchasing self-test kits will have to provide their Aadhaar cards to chemists in order to maintain a record.
According to news agency ANI, Kishori said, "We have decided that everyone purchasing self-test kits will have to provide their Aadhaar cards to the chemists to maintain a record. If anyone tests positive they must inform the authorities and update this online."

Earlier, the Maharashtra health department had written to civic authorities regarding the sale of home kits and ensuring that people report about the infections. Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 11,317 cases along with nine deaths on January 14.
