It isn't that easy to outsmart Mumbai police and Praful Prakash Gosavi and Sunil Arjun Rupwate learnt this the hard way. The duo, who was aspiring to become a part of the police force by participating in the police recruitment drive, was booked by the Vikhroli police on Saturday under a case of cheating.

One of the activities held during the recruitment is a five kilometer race and Gosavi and Rupwate decided to catch an auto-rickshaw to cover most of the distance. However, their plan failed as the police observed that they were hardly sweating after the long race.
The incident took place during the recruitment process at the Eastern Express Highway near Kannamwar Nagar in Vikhroli. The race started at 8 am and the duo managed to complete the five kilometre race by 8.45 am without breaking into a sweat. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Vikhroli division, Ramdas Gaikwad, said, "After the race started, the two candidates, caught an auto rickshaw and appeared ahead of everyone else.
Later, the police officials stationed during the nakabandi of the recruitment process, noticed that they weren't sweating at all." On further interrogation, they revealed that they had caught a southbound auto-rickshaw in order to gain more marks.
The two accused have been booked under Sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance) of the Indian Penal Code. Meanwhile, four aspiring constables lost their lives during various activities since June 11.
