Officals from the civic body's H West ward visited Khushi Pride Belmondo building at Santacruz West which is home to BJP leader Mohit Kamboj, two days after issuing a notice for alleged illegalities in the 14-storey structure. A detailed report on their findings is yet to be finalised.

The ward office had sent a notice to the owner or occupier of Khushi Pride Belmondo under section 488 of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, 1888. The section allows BMC officials to enter premises for inspection, survey or execution of "necessary" work.

"The team was in my building for four hours from noon to 4 pm. They searched the entire area of the buildings where I own four floors," said Kamboj, calling the action politically motivated. "We cooperated with them. If they find some illegalities I will reply accordingly. But it is a misuse of section 488 where BMC can visit any premises."

An official from H West ward told mid-day, "We inspected the entire area and found illegalities. The construction wasn't approved. We are preparing the report but it isn't finalised yet." The building houses seven families, including the Kambojs.

Through a Twitter post, Kamboj sought to know from the BMC the identity of the complainant behind the notice. "Last How Many Times U Have Used Ur Power Under Section 488 in Last 2 Years ? Is Complainer Associated With Any Political Party?," he wrote on the microblogging site.
