Bharatiya Janata Party leader Shehzad Poonawalla on Tuesday launched attack on Shiv Sena as its MVA ally Congress is set to inaugurate Tipu Sultan Maidan in Mumbai's Malad on January 26.

The party national spokesperson shared an image of the maidan's hoarding and questioned Sena's commitment to Hindutva.

He wrote, "Tipu Sultan Maidan to be inaugurated on 26th Jan in Mumbai by Congress Minister Aslam Shaikh. Shiv Sena gives lecture on Hindutva. Does Sena oppose or support it? If you oppose it, then why not stop it? Or was it another compromise for power? Just like you abandoned Savarkar ji"

Earlier, on Sunday, Maharashtra CM while addressing his party members on the occasion of his father Bal Thackeray's 96th birth anniversary had said they "wasted 25 years in alliance with the BJP" and that the ruling party only uses Hindutva for political gains.

This kicked up a war of words between the two parties with each attacking the other on their Hindutva politics.
