A fire broke out at a sanitary napkin factory in Bhiwandi area of the Thane district in the early hours of Tuesday but no casualties were reported, a civic official said, reported news agency PTI.
Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation disaster management cell official Raju Warlikar said that the Bhiwandi fire started at the factory, located in Saravli industrial area, around 3 am, reported PTI.
In visuals from the area, massive flames can be seen billowing out of the factory building.
Fire brigade teams of BNMC as well as teams from Thane and Kalyan-Dombivli rushed to the spot and the Bhiwandi fire was brought under control by 8.30 am, he said, reported PTI.

Nobody was reported injured but the raw material stored in the factory was gutted, he said, adding that cooling operations were underway, reported PTI.
The cause of the fire was being probed.
In another incident, an official said that eleven people, including five children, escaped unscathed after the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) they were riding in caught fire in Thane, Maharashtra.
The MPV was going from Mumbai to Nashik when the driver discovered a fire at 11:45 pm on May 30. He promptly braked and stopped the car, allowing all occupants, including five children and four women, to evacuate safely before it caught fire, reported PTI.
According to Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Thane civic body's Disaster Management Cell, the incident took place on the Eastern Express Highway, opposite Viviana Mall. Local firefighters and municipal rescuers responded quickly and extinguished the fire within half an hour. However, the car was totally destroyed, the report added.
Meanwhile, Six persons were injured in an LPG cylinder explosion at an eatery at Dombivli in Thane district on May 29 evening, reported PTI citing fire brigade officials. Two out of the six have been seriusly injured.
A fire also broke out after the incident at a Chinese food joint on Tandon road around 5 pm, they said.
Three fire engines of the local civic body rushed to the spot and put out the fire within half an hour, officials said. According to the PTI report, the injured were undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
