Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Krishnakant Upadhyay Friday said that the Toyota Innova that met an accident on the Bandra-Worli Sea link collided with a Mercedes Benz car just 100 meters before the toll booth on the north-bound lane of the sea link.
DCP Upadhyay explained that, following the initial collision, the Innova driver, apprehensive about potential consequences, attempted to escape the scene to avoid confrontation. This escape effort resulted in a loss of control near the toll booth, leading to the Innova colliding with several other vehicles. Tragically, three occupants of the Innova lost their lives, and nine individuals sustained injuries.
"Fearing that he might be beaten up, the driver of the Innova tried to escape from the spot and sped away. He lost control of the vehicle near the toll booth and rammed it into many cars, leaving nine people injured. Later, three occupants of the Innova were declared dead," the DCP said.
The injured, including the Innova driver, are currently undergoing treatment, with two individuals in serious condition. DCP Upadhyay highlighted that a total of six vehicles, including the Innova, were involved in the accident on the sea link.
