An auto driver robbed a woman at knifepoint in Santacruz on Sunday night. The woman was returning from a friend's wedding, when the incident took place. The shocked complainant has registered a case with Santacruz police, who are still clueless about the identity of the accused.
After attending her friend's wedding at Bandra Gymkhana on Sunday, complainant Anisha Bangera was waiting for an auto at the D'Monte Park junction. She felt the steady gaze of two men who were standing on the other side of the road. Unnerved, she hopped onto the first auto she saw, asking the driver to take her to the vicinity of a store in Santacruz (West).
When the auto neared the destination, the auto driver did not stop the vehicle. In the update that she later wrote on a social media network, she said, âI told him to stop and take a U-turn, but he immediately stopped and pulled out a knife. He held the knife at my neck, and took all my money'. The accused then told her to step out of the auto without attracting any attention.u00a0
As soon as she did, he sped off. The woman failed to note the auto's number. She later went to Santacruz police station and filed an FIR. Senior Police Inspector Arun Chavan of Santacruz police station said, "Based on the complaint, we have registered an FIR. We are investigating the case and hope to arrest the accused soon."
In her status update, Bangera said, âPeople read these stories in the news and think that they are being careful and such things can never happen to them. I was one of those people. I was a victim to this crime and I was just shocked. I got into a rickshaw to keep myself safe from the two perverts on the street. Who would've thought that the rickshaw was the real danger? I hope they find the guy and put him in jail. Always note down the rickshaw/taxi number and send it to a friend.'
