On Wednesday, both the daily Covid-19 cases and the test positivity rate (TPR) rose significantly. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's report, 530 fresh infections were confirmed throughout the day and the TPR crossed 1 per cent again.
On Tuesday, the city had recorded 353 new cases and the TPR was 0.91 per cent. The TPR rose to 1.09 per cent on Wednesday. The number of daily casualties doubled to four. Three of the deceased patients had comorbidities, two were senior citizens and the other two were aged between 40 years 59 years.
The doubling rate continued to deteriorate and was at 1,253 days on Wednesday. The city's recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent, with 349 more people recovering and returning home.
According to the Maharashtra health department, cases across the state rose marginally to 4,174, however, the number of fresh fatalities declined significantly to 65 on Wednesday.

The state's TPR improved to 11.74 per cent and the recovery rate was recorded at 97.09 per cent. The case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent. After the discharge of 4,155 more recovered patients, the state has 47,880 active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) also witnessed a considerable rise in new Covid-19 cases at 990, including the ones reported in Mumbai. It had registered 776 cases on Tuesday.
Raigad reported 74 cases, followed by Thane Municipal Corporation at 68 cases. Panvel registered 62 cases, Thane 41, Vasai-Virar 49 and Mira-Bhayandar 34.
The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered 13 Covid-19 fatalities on Wednesday, up from three the day before. Raigad reported 11 deaths, highest in the MMR, and Panvel two.
