With the city opening up on all counts, this year the regular rituals and arrangements for Mahaparinirvan Diwas will be held just like pre-Covid times. This day is observed on the death anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on December 6. A sea of Ambedkar followers are expected to descend at Dadar to pay tribute to him, as there are no restrictions owing to Covid-19.
This year, the central government will also be a participant, as it has decided to link the event with its initiative Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be interacting with Ambedkar's followers at Dadar's Shivaji Park through audio-visual medium. Mahaparinirvan Diwas and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav will be held in four places in the state Nagpur, Pune, Ratnagiri and Mumbai.
