After being harassed by her husband for years, for giving birth to two girls, a 24-year-old woman committed suicide along with her daughters by jumping in front of a local train near Asangaon. The woman's father approached the GRP, Kalyan, and filed a complaint against her husband. He claims that his daughter committed suicide because her husband doubted her character and harassed her.
According to police, the victim has been identified as Radha Madge, a resident of Asangaon. She used to stay with her husband, Ganesh Madge, and two daughters Priya, 5, and Akka, 3. Ganesh works as a conductor with Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport.

Multiple complaints
The incident took place on July 14, after which the GRP Kalyan registered an accidental death report in the matter. "After we circulated the photos of the deceased, we got to know that the woman's parents reside near Igatpuri in Nashik. Accordingly, we traced them and informed them about the incident. After the post-mortem was conducted at Shahapur civic hospital, the bodies were shifted to Rukmini Bai Hospital in Kalyan," said Manik Sathe, police inspector, Kalyan GRP.

According to the victim's father, they had previously registered three complaints against Ganesh for harassing her.

"After a case was registered at a police station in Nashik, members of the women redressal committee had counselled the husband-wife duo. The matter had been sorted out, but the harassment started again," said a police officer.

Probe on
Sathe further said, "We have handed over the bodies to the family. We are gathering information about the case registered at Nashik. The accused is yet to be arrested. Further investigation into the matter is on."
