A woman spent her 13th wedding anniversary at Mumbai;s KEM hospital after her husband was involved in a raod accident with a motorcycle travelling the wrong way

Instead of expecting a romantic surprise from her husband on their 13th wedding anniversary, Sarmadi Siraj Pallavkar spent it praying for his life.

Sarmadi was at her parent's house when she got the news of Siraj Ismai Pallavkar's accident on Wednesday. 39-year-old Siraj, a sales executive with a private company, was hit by a motorcycle coming from the wrong side at Roha in Raigad district.

According to the victim's brother, the biker fled from the spot, without attending to the wounded and leaving Siraj on the road. Fortunately a fire brigade truck coming around the same time found him and rushed him to Roha Civil Hospital. Doctors at the hospital advised Siraj's brother to shift him to Mumbai's KEM hospital.

Siraj, who is a Roha resident, was admitted to KEM hospital at around 3 am. By early morning, Sarmadi was there by her husband's bedside along with their 2-year-old son Adul Muqeet.

"I have no idea what happened to him and how. I was at my parent's house and he had planned to come there and take me somewhere out for a celebration. Now all I hope for is him regaining consciousness," said Sarmadi.

Dr. Sandeep Gaikwad, a neurosurgeon at KEM hospital treating Siraj said, "The patient had internal bleeding in the left region of his head, which is significant but it doesn't require any surgery. We will admit him for 5-6 days."

Tala police station, at Roha, has registered a case of accident. The accused biker has not been arrested as yet.

Siraj has not regained consciousness since the time of the accident.

Siraj's family has accused KEM hospital personnel of not looking after the patient and not even providing a bed sheet to cover Siraj.
