Pune: It was an unusual Saturday morning at the Karvenagar Nal chowk, when traffic came to a standstill because of a porn film. The chowk in central Pune is known to have one of the longest waits at a traffic signal in the city - 108 seconds. Commuters make a dash for it when the light turns green. However, on this occasion, vehicles stayed glued to the spot even after the light had turned green, causing a major traffic jam behind them.
The incident occurred around 11 am. While officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) claimed to be unaware of the situation, a traffic constable who spoke to mid-day on the condition of anonymity said, "From each road of the chowk, commuters get only 16 seconds to pull into another road. Motorists drive rashly during that time but on Saturday, we observed that they were looking up to watch the video. One commuter even shared the hoarding on social media."
No complaint has been registered with the police against Vivek Limaye, the owner of the hoarding. Limaye said, "This has happened because of a technical error. It could be because of a virus as the hoarding streams content from the Internet. I have approached the cyber crime branch to look into this."
