BJP in Maharashtra on Thursday said they had not made any kind of offer to senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar, who was sidelined for the post of deputy chief minister.
"There is no offer from our side," state BJP president Nitin Gadkari told reporters here. He was replying to Ajit Pawar's remarks published in a leading newspaper that he was offered the chief minister's post by Sena-BJP leaders if he broke away from the NCP.
Referring to reports that NCP chief Sharad Pawar's nephew was in touch with some leaders of the saffron camp, whose bid to wrest power from Congress-NCP alliance has been shattered, Gadkari said, "I am not aware who exactly met him".
Sena leader Sanjay Raut had met Sharad Pawar in Delhi yesterday. There were also reports that Ajit Pawar met some BJP and Sena leaders today but there was no confirmation from either side.
Ajit Pawar has so far maintained that he would abide by the decision to elect Chhagan Bhujbal as NCP legislature party leader.
