mid-day had reported the stabbing on Tuesday ('Embarrassed by public rejection, teenager stabs girl he was wooing'), when the girl had claimed that the boy attacked her after she rejected his proposal and slapped him.

However, the police learnt that the girl had bought the knife on Sunday, and the next morning she stabbed herself in her building. Cops finally caught up with the boy last night, when he confirmed that the girl was nervous her parents would find out about their relationship.
After this discovery, Senior Inspector Sunil Mane of Virar Police was transferred to the control room on Thursday.
