Victim of assault dies in hospital; two booked

Police have registered a case of murder against two persons after the man they allegedly assaulted died in a hospital six days after the incident.

Vishnu Prabhakar Netke (27), resident of Mankhurd in north-east Mumbai, died at Sion Hospital yesterday.

Netke was assaulted with unidentified weapon on the night of May 6, after which he was taken to the hospital and released after initial check-up.

But he had to be hospitalised soon thereafter. According to his brother's complaint, one Babu, who sells vada-pav, and Rocky were the assailants. Both are absconding, police said.
