Around 300 students who took admission to Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil Engineering College in Sion this year were in for a rude shock as they received an e-mail yesterday from the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) informing about their transfer to other colleges.
The Sion college that was embroiled in a battle with the All-India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) over the issue of approval has lost the case.
After AICTE barred it from starting the admission process this year, Vasantdada Patil Engineering College had moved High Court.
The college authorities managed to get a stay on the AICTE order, following which admissions were started. However, AICTE challenged the stay in Supreme Court in July, following which the decision has been taken to shift students from this college.
