Police inspect the bikes of the relatives of the accused, who fled leaving them behind
Two groups clashed inside the Manickpur police station, and a few police staff who intervened were also thrashed. The police have registered an FIR against unidentified persons, and arrested seven people in the case. According to police, two women and three men brought a youth identified as Shahid Khan to the police station, alleging that he was filming a woman on his mobile phone, on Wednesday night. Some locals had beaten him up.

The duty officer asked that Khan be taken for a medical test. But Khan suddenly attacked one Satish Pagare from the complainant's side. Khan had informed his relatives when he was being taken to the police, and soon about 20 to 25 people arrived on bikes. A fight broke out between the groups.

Police officials including female constables tried to separate the groups, but they too were beaten up. Three police personnel were injured, and when senior inspector Anil Patil used force, many of the people fled leaving their motorbikes behind. Seven people including a woman, identified as Mehrunnisa Sheikh, 60, Ashique Khan, 45, Imtiyaz Malik, 19, Nadim Khan, 34, Shahnawaz Sheikh, 28, Muzim Khan, 28, and Imran Ansari, 28, were arrested by the police, while Khan, his other relatives and the complainants fled.
"We have registered the case under Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 149 (Every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence), 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 332 (Voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC. Seven accused were arrested and the rest are on the run," said SI Patil from Manickpur police station.
