The district rural police has launched a search for two teen-aged girls who went missing after leaving their homes on Saturday, an official said today. The girls, aged 16 and 17, were friends and worked as labourers at a company manufacturing hair clips in the Bhayander township in Thane, the official said.
On February 3, one of the girls left her home in Bhayander with a bag of clothes after informing her parents that she was going to a tailor and that from there she would proceed to her work place, Kashimira police station's sub-inspector K S Patil said. The girl then went to her friend's home located nearby. From there both of them left after telling the other girl's parents also that they were going to their work place, Patil said.
However, by evening when duo did not return, their parents approached the police. The police was making enquiries but the girls were yet to be traced, the official added.
