Two persons were today arrested for allegedly stealing cash, watches, gold and jewellery worth Rs 46.6 lakh from the house of a UK national at suburban Goregaon, police said.


Two persons were today arrested for allegedly stealing cash, watches, gold and jewellery worth Rs 46.6 lakh from the house of a UK national at suburban Goregaon, police said.

The accused, Omprakash Saxena (28), driver of the complainant, and his associate Aarkesh Rama (22) had created a false trail by sprinkling chicken blood, breaking a window and hanging a rope near it to misguide police that some robbers had committed the crime which was reported on Monday evening, police said.

According to the police, the complainant Mr. Raja (33), who is a property dealer and arrived in Mumbai three months ago, was staying in Royal Palm in Aarey colony. Omprakash, who was working as a car driver, knew the daily schedule ofu00a0Raja and took the assistance of his relative Aarkesh in the crime.

"His driver Omprakash knew that Raja everyday in the evening leaves home at around 8.30 pm for temple and gym for about two hours," Joint Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria said.

"On Monday, whenu00a0Raja went out in the evening, the accused entered the house using a duplicate key and fled with cash, watches including a diamond studded one, digital camera, gold and jewellery worth Rs. 46.60 lakh," police said.

The investigation conducted by crime branch unit XII revealed that a few days back, the parents of complainant who are senior citizens went to watch a movie in Goregaon, police said.
