Hashmat Parkar, a resident of Thane has filed a complaint with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis against Mumbra's Kalsekar Hospital as he alleged that the staff there refused to admit his 5-month pregnant wife if he didn't deposit some money first.

This is a violation of the Supreme Court rule that clearly states that hospitals should immediately take action for treatment of patients approaching them with serious ailment.

But this hopital made the patient, who was reeling in pain, wait for 7 hours.

Parkar, who is an employee with the Haj Committee, in the letter sent to Devendra Fadnavis on July 26, requested the CM to register an FIR and conduct inquiry against the hospital.

"Due to negligence and irresponsible attitude shown by the hospital authorities of Mumbra city, it is requested to lodge FIR and conduct through inquiry against those who found guilty for deliberately delaying my wife's treatment," reads the complaint.

His wife, Shahina Hashmat Parkar, 35, who is 5 months pregnant was having breathlessness and was taken to the hospital at around 9.00am. After check-up, the hospital advised him to get her immediate hospitalised. But the counter staff and consultants refused to admit her without the family deposing Rs 10,000 and Rs 20,000.

"My sister who accompanied her requested the hospital repeatedly. She informed that I was in Khed Taluka and would reach within 2-3 hours to deposit the money. But they refused and made my pregnant wife wait for 7 hours. In fact, they behaved very badly with my wife," alleged Parkar.

Nabila Khan, from the PR department of the hospital, said, "We are probing into the matter. Until it's over, I won't be able to comment on it."
